How to Interp: Roles and Relationships
The relationship between interviewer and note taker is an odd one. One person’s job is to recreate the interview they did so the other team members can come together, find relevant data and write down the main point of that relevant data.
This is not the time for the interviewer to data dump what they want on the note takers and it’s not a time for note takers to enjoy detailed adjectives. Interpreting contextual interviews are group actions. You have to do things together and not dictate to each other what does & does not go into the data notes. Putting in one note or two can solve any disagreement. Either way you have notes on what someone on the team got out of the interview.
Put away your notion of good/bad for this task. There is plenty of data for everyone to see and you if you’re the only one seeing it, your not having a truly significant interpreting session.
