How to Interp: Sticking to the Point
Long hours and sharing ideas is not always as pleasant as one might think. Breathe deep and remember to stick to the point.
The format of a note is as follows: What the person did & why they did it.
If your note can’t follow this pattern, something odd is a foot. There is an exception to every pattern, questions and design ideas are handled differently, but sticking to this pattern is your first task. If your note is only sharing fact you’re missing the point of contextualism. Yes we know the user hits a button, but why that button and what are they are really trying to do, this is the soul of the contextual note.
Bad note:
The user sends the email out directly after getting 2 emails from his team members.
Good notes:
The user sends an email after getting an email from the requesting co-worker & approval from their manager because they need to cover their tracks for record keeping
The context note is not just the facts, but the why as well. Two points, two notes. Facts can be wrapped up & hidden, but the points cannot!
