Interviewing & Interpreting: The Cycle Continues
My current project is now fully in the I & I swing of the contextual design process. We spend half the week in a made dash traveling anywhere for contextual interviews, while the second half of the week is spent sitting in a room interpreting till the wee hours.
This is the time I really get to know the work practice of the people I’m designing for. By interacting with a user in a master/apprentice dialog I learn the “whys” of their work practice as well as “how”. This is how we find the users train of reasoning by seeing the work and revealing the details.
If I can survive this week I can then look forward to another 3-week series afterwards. It’s a good thing I like flying and love to talk to new people.
